3 tactics to promote your employer brand through LinkedIn

LinkedIn. The number one social platform to promote your employer brand…how do we know this? According to a recent survey by the Social Shepherd, each week LinkedIn sees 61 million people searching for their next position through the platform’s designated job search page. That’s a community of 61 million thriving candidates and customers of your employer brand to reach.

Here are 3 of the best tactics you can use to promote your employer brand on LinkedIn…

 1- Optimise your company page

Candidates are checking more than just websites these days. Your company LinkedIn will be high on their list when exploring opportunities. Don’t let yours be an underwhelming experience when they arrive – nobody wants their page to be a tumbleweed moment.

Your LinkedIn page is the perfect opportunity to showcase why prosperous talent should want to work for you, therefore you want to be shouting positively about your company culture and careers. Try to update your company page at least 2-3 times a week filled with posts that add value to your audience, such as industry-specific related blog articles, video testimonials of your team members with reasons why they enjoy working at your company and client reviews that shout about your team members.

Research from the social media platform, Hootsuite found that complete company pages double the visits compared to those that are incomplete. So, keep it fresh and be the place that candidates will want to follow and come back to.

2- Get your posts shared

The two main factors that will get your posts shared on LinkedIn are engaging with your employees and getting your leaders to post more. If your employees are engaged with your employer brand and values, they are more likely to share your company page content and maybe even create their own posts about your company one day – this is gold dust! According to research by RedSprout, leads generated by employees sharing their content on LinkedIn convert seven times more frequently than any other kind of lead.

Secondly, if your leaders start to share and write posts, they will in turn encourage all your employees to do the same. Your founders and leaders will be well known in their sectors and carry a lot of influence, therefore getting them on board with posting and engagement will really get the ball rolling on improving results.

3- Don’t forget your hashtag strategy

The use of hashtags are essential to help increase the visibility of your company page. Unlike Instagram, which encourages users to add up to 30 hashtags to a post, LinkedIn recommends sticking to 2 – 5 targeted tags per post. This allows your posts to be more focused and helps you connect with a larger audience; recent research on LinkedIn shows that posts with at least one hashtag have 12.6% more engagement than those without.
