An established practice in Leamington Spa is hiring a Senior Architectural Technologist.

The work is unusual in the best way: listed buildings, new buildings set within historic surroundings, and refurbishment that brings older buildings back into use. Very little of it comes off the shelf.

If you like detailing that asks you to think, rather than copy a standard solution across, this one is worth a look.

The role

• Technical support and production drawing across a range of live projects.
• Developing clear, well-informed detailing for non-standard situations, particularly around traditional materials and construction.
• Applying a sound working knowledge of the Building Regulations to historic and altered buildings.
• Producing drawings to a high presentation standard.
• Working closely with the wider team to keep quality consistent from early design through to site.

What you will need

• A background as an architectural technologist, ideally with some exposure to older or non-standard buildings.
• Strong detailing skills and a good grasp of the Building Regulations.
• A real willingness to investigate and develop technical solutions, rather than reach for a standard answer.
• Confident CAD skills. The practice works in VectorWorks; if you are coming from AutoCAD or Revit, training and support are provided and most people pick it up quickly.
• Extensive conservation experience is welcome but not essential. The right attitude and technical instinct matter more.
