An established, multidisciplinary built-environment consultancy is expanding its service offering by bringing Mechanical, Electrical and Building Services Design in-house.

With an established client base, a strong pipeline of work and the backing of the business’s partners, this is an opportunity for an experienced Building Services leader to establish and develop a new division, with the support and resources to make it a success.

With offices across the country, a strong presence in the North West and on the South Coast, we’re able to be flexible with their next location with the expectation of travelling to projects and design offices when required.

• Build a new division: Take ownership of establishing and growing an in-house MEP / Building Services function.

About the business
The consultancy delivers a broad range of built-environment services across the UK, with established teams covering architecture, project management, quantity surveying and building surveying.

Having developed a strong project portfolio and client base, the business is now investing in expanding its multidisciplinary capabilities by bringing MEP, structural and civil engineering services in-house.

This is a strategic appointment, supported by the business partners, with existing project demand and the opportunity to build a long-term, profitable division.

The role
As Director / Head of Building Services, you’ll lead the development of the MEP function, combining strategic leadership, client management and commercial growth.

You’ll take responsibility for building and developing the team, overseeing project delivery, strengthening existing relationships and identifying opportunities to win new work.

This isn’t a role for someone looking to remain primarily hands-on with design. The business is looking for an established leader who can bring the right technical understanding, commercial awareness and industry relationships to create a successful division.

What they’re looking for

• A senior Building Services / MEP professional operating at Director, Partner or equivalent level, or ready to make that step.
• Experience leading teams and managing client relationships across building services projects.
• A track record of business development, winning work and growing client accounts.
• The ability to establish and develop a team, with a clear vision for building a successful division.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how to grow a profitable engineering service.
• A network of relevant clients and contacts would be advantageous.
