Senior Architect
Apply nowSenior Architect – Buckinghamshire | £55,000-£60,000
An established Buckinghamshire architecture practice is hiring a Senior Architect to join its team.
A residential-led studio with a long-standing local reputation, a steady stream of high-end domestic work, and a genuine leadership role for someone ready to mentor and shape how the team operates.
The work is around 95% private residential: extensions, renovations, new builds, and the occasional listed building.
Project values typically sit between £250k and £1m, with occasional larger schemes up to £2m. Most work sits across South Bucks, Berkshire and the surrounding Thames Valley, so it’s genuinely a local practice with long-standing regional relationships.
You’d be a senior figure in a small team, mentoring 3-4 staff, running your own projects, and holding key client relationships across some genuinely interesting residential briefs.
The Senior Architect role, day to day:
- Running live residential projects from concept through to on-site delivery.
- Holding client relationships and managing the client journey from initial brief to completion.
- Mentoring more junior architects and technologists across the studio.
- Producing design and technical output using AutoCAD, SketchUp and InDesign.
- Engaging with local authority planning and building control across the region.
- Contributing to the wider direction of the practice as a senior team member.
What we’re looking for in a Senior Architect:
- ARB registered, RIBA Part 3 qualified.
- Several years of post-qualification experience running residential projects (mid-to-high-end domestic).
- Strong AutoCAD, SketchUp and InDesign skills.
- Experience of listed buildings, planning in conservation contexts, and building control processes.
- Interest in mentoring more junior team members and helping shape a small studio.
- Genuine interest in a long-term role at a stable, established practice.
Why this Senior Architect role in Buckinghamshire is worth a look:
- A varied residential workload with genuine design and technical interest across every project.
- A senior role with substantial influence on how the team operates.
- Strong local reputation and a client base built on referrals and long-term relationships.
- A small, collaborative team with a genuinely international mix.
- Small-town Thames Valley base, with parking and strong rail links.
- The kind of role where you’ll actually see the buildings you work on, in the community they serve.
